The More You KnowWhen families choose to care for their own dead in Oregon, they are also choosing to participate in and uphold the laws and requirements of the State. In turn, they need the help of professionals and authorities, including those in state and local government, hospitals and care facilities, medical emergency situations and personal provider offices, and those who serve the family, such as clergy and funeral directors. Authorities in each area of expertise hold the key to changing the experience for family members for the better. We urge you to research the laws that grant Oregon families the right to care for their own dead, and to understand your part in exercising them.
Home funeral families are also trying to learn how to better ask for help from authorities. Learn more about their perspective at How to Work With Professionals. |
